Domestic Network & Facilities

Features of the Kobe Branch

As a supply base for fruits and vegetables in the western Japan area, Kobe Port supports logistics throughout the western Japan region.

The company handles a wide variety of goods, including fresh produce, grains, animal feed, and general merchandise. In particular, its produce center boasts one of the largest fumigation and low-temperature facilities in Japan, and operates dedicated berths for loading and unloading banana and kiwi-carrying vessels two to three times a week. In 2023, it also began operations for loading, unloading, silo storage, and transportation of biomass power generation fuel, playing a part in logistics in the western Japan area.

I asked people who actually work there.

Please tell me your main cargo handling duties.

Our main cargo includes fruits such as bananas, pineapples, and kiwis, as well as vegetables such as onions and carrots. Wheat, corn, and soybeans are also important feed grains. While we handle a wide variety of goods, including general merchandise and chemicals, we also handle, transport, and store cargo that is rarely seen by the average consumer but forms the foundation of the Japanese economy, such as wood pellets used in biomass power generation and track maintenance equipment used for railway line upkeep.

What kind of characteristics do successful people possess?

Our company brings together diverse talent across various departments, including operations, sales, and management. While everyone utilizes their strengths to excel, those who thrive embody our company's purpose: "Standing close, connecting, and becoming a new force." We strive to "stand close" to our customers who have chosen us as their logistics partner, continuously providing value as such. We "connect" customers with each other through the goods entrusted to us, serving as a vital link in society as a social infrastructure. Customer needs and social conditions are constantly changing, demanding new challenges and transformations. Our workplace is a place where individuals who can create "new forces" can thrive.

As part of the lectures at universities located in the Hanshin area, we conduct site visits to port cargo handling and warehousing facilities involved in commodity distribution. We accept students on site visits in the hope that they will acquire practical knowledge and experience that cannot be obtained from textbooks or classroom lectures, and that this will help them in their career choices.
