Locally focused sales operations that support the stable operation of steel mills.

We are involved in the steel production process at the Oita area of Nippon Steel Corporation's Kyushu Works, primarily handling imported raw materials and transporting steel.

I asked people who actually work there.

Please tell me your main cargo handling duties.

Our main cargo consists of iron ore and coal, which are raw materials for steel production and are imported primarily from Australia, Brazil, and Canada. These materials are handled using large cranes. We also manage the belt system for transporting these raw materials to subsequent processes and carry out environmental protection measures for the surrounding area. In addition, we inspect semi-finished steel products called slabs, weighing approximately 20 tons, and handle their transportation and management using heavy machinery.
Furthermore, the Oita branch handles not only operations within steel mill premises, but also shipbuilding block manufacturing in the shipbuilding industry, and the production and dismantling of large cranes for port cargo handling. They also undertake large-scale plant construction projects for various factories throughout Japan.

What kind of characteristics do successful people possess?

Our employees are people who take pride in their craftsmanship, have a strong safety awareness to ensure safe work practices, possess physical strength and a sense of responsibility, and prioritize safety above all else, always following the rules.
Furthermore, in order to meet the diverse needs of our customers, we employ people who value their colleagues rather than working alone, who have a strong sense of responsibility, and who are aware of their own limitations and challenges.
Furthermore, even those without prior experience are encouraged to proactively learn new knowledge and skills, and to receive thorough and careful training from experienced superiors and senior colleagues. They also work together as a team, proactively striving to improve equipment and work processes.

Are there any events or community involvement unique to this location?

[Various events and community contributions]
Throughout the year, we deepen inter-group communication by participating in events with steel mills and related companies (futsal, tug-of-war, ekiden relay race, bowling, esports, etc.).
In the neighboring area (Joto Spring Festival), the steelworks hosts a public factory tour. This event, featuring a tour of the world's largest twin blast furnaces from a vehicle and family-friendly activities, is a major spring event. As a form of social contribution, the company actively participates in volunteer cleanup activities in the neighboring area in conjunction with the "Oita City Zero Waste Campaign," deepening its sense of attachment to the community.
