Kamigumi to enter grid-scale battery business
Kamigumi Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Kobe City; President and CEO: Yoshihiro Fukai; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has decided to construct a grid-mounted battery storage system in Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture, and to enter the grid-mounted battery storage business (hereinafter referred to as "this business").
The Japanese government is promoting the introduction of renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and improving energy self-sufficiency. However, because the amount of renewable energy generated is affected by weather conditions, the increasing adoption of renewable energy sources is creating challenges such as instability in the power grid due to surplus electricity, making it necessary to adjust the supply and demand balance to resolve these issues.
Unlike conventional batteries that store electricity generated on-site, grid-connected batteries are directly connected to the power grid and can adjust the balance of supply and demand by charging and discharging in accordance with the balance of electricity supply and demand. Because they contribute to the stabilization of the grid, they are expected to be indispensable for promoting the introduction of renewable energy.
Through this project, our company will contribute to stabilizing the supply and demand balance of grid electricity, thereby contributing to the promotion of renewable energy introduction in Japan and the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
