2025.03.11

Dear everyone

Kamigumi to build Tokyo Uminomori Battery Energy Storage System for grid-scale battery business

Kamigumi Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Kobe City, President and CEO: Yoshihiro Fukai, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") and Banpu Japan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Pitak Teeratham Niti) have jointly established a special purpose company, "Tokyo Sea Forest Battery Business LLC," and have decided to construct the "Tokyo Sea Forest Battery Storage Station" within the Kamigumi Tokyo Multipurpose Logistics Center owned by the Company, which will carry out grid-use battery storage business aimed at promoting renewable energy (hereinafter referred to as "renewable energy") and stabilizing grid power.
Renewable energy is expected to increase at an accelerating pace towards realizing a decarbonized society, and this project is highly anticipated as an essential tool for promoting the introduction of renewable energy.
As part of our "development of new businesses" strategy outlined in our medium-term management plan, we are entering this business to contribute to stabilizing the supply and demand balance of grid electricity, thereby promoting the introduction of renewable energy in Japan and realizing a carbon-neutral society.
Furthermore, this energy storage facility will be the first to be newly constructed in Tokyo to be selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Support Project for the Introduction of Large-Scale Grid-Based Battery Storage Systems with a View to Expanding Renewable Energy Introduction."
