Risk Management

Efforts toward Business Continuity Planning (BCP)

Measures to prepare for a massive earthquake

We have developed a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) manual based on the assumption of a massive earthquake in the Tonankai and Nankai Troughs, and we are implementing individual emergency measures for business continuity in all departments, branches, and operations.
In addition, once a year, the Risk Management Department requests each branch to conduct a self-inspection to ensure that their earthquake preparedness measures have not deteriorated, and also verifies the status of their operational systems.
In addition, in fiscal year 2024, we conducted a large-scale disaster response drill involving multiple locations, simulating a massive earthquake.

Installation of IP radio equipment and regular communication training

In the event of a large-scale disaster, rapid information gathering is required, including confirming the safety of employees and assessing the extent of the damage. Furthermore, disseminating instructions and information from the disaster response headquarters is essential. Drawing on our experience from past disasters, we have installed IP radios at all our domestic locations that allow communication even during power outages or when mobile phone services are restricted. We also conduct regular communication training to ensure all employees are proficient in using IP radios.

Contributing to customer BCP through the use of various transportation methods

To contribute to our customers' business continuity planning (BCP) and supply chain security in the event of a large-scale disaster, we unload goods at ports throughout Japan and offer a combination of land transport, domestic shipping, and rail transport options.
As a recent initiative, we are testing a new transportation method in which we will unload customer cargo, which is normally unloaded at Tokyo Port, at Kobe Port and then transport it to the Tokyo metropolitan area by rail.

Initiatives for information security

Internal control frameworks that support information protection

Based on our "Company Confidentiality Management Regulations," we have established measures for the management and preservation of our confidential information, creating a system to prevent the leakage of corporate secrets and ensure their appropriate use. In addition to complying with all laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, we have also established "Personal Information Protection Regulations" and "Information Security Measures Standards" to strictly manage personal information and other third-party information under the supervision of the Chief Personal Information Protection Officer, ensuring that it is not used for purposes other than its intended purpose or leaked. Furthermore, we thoroughly prevent insider trading through information management based on our "Information Management and Insider Trading Management Regulations." We also engage in education and training to enhance the effectiveness of these measures.
