Efforts toward human rights due diligence

In accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Kamigumi Group fulfills its responsibility to respect human rights and conducts human rights due diligence based on the "Kamigumi Group Human Rights Policy (hereinafter, this Policy)" to identify, prevent, and mitigate negative impacts on human rights related to its business activities. We will also continue to work with our stakeholders to encourage them to support and abide by this Policy. The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the specific human rights initiatives within the Kamigumi Group.
To enhance the effectiveness of human rights due diligence, we received advice from external experts and implemented the following initiatives in fiscal year 2024.

Initiatives for Fiscal Year 2024

Assessment and identification of human rights risks

Since fiscal year 2024, we have been identifying and assessing significant human rights risks that may be caused or exacerbated by our group's business activities. In fiscal year 2024, we collaborated with multiple internal departments and external experts to conduct a desk-based human rights risk assessment covering all of the Kamigumi Group's businesses and value chains (including domestic and overseas).
We evaluated the identified human rights risks based on two axes: "impact" and "likelihood of occurrence," for each business/value chain, and identified human rights risks that were expected to have high priority.
In the next fiscal year, we will strive to gain a detailed understanding of human rights risks by conducting written surveys and on-site investigations based on the results of our desk analysis. The human rights risks that are expected to be of high priority are "providing a safe working environment," "prohibiting harassment," and "proper management of working hours."

Strengthening the relief mechanism

In fiscal year 2024, we identified challenges in existing consultation services, including the internal whistleblowing system, and considered directions for strengthening and improving the relief mechanism.
Going forward, in order to strengthen and improve the relief mechanism, we will work towards expanding the scope of existing consultation services and establishing a system to accept all types of complaints.

Development and implementation of educational programs

The Kamigumi Group conducts human rights education and training for its officers and employees with the aim of deepening understanding of the importance of respecting human rights and disseminating the Group's human rights policy.
In fiscal year 2024, we conducted training on business and human rights for management, executives, and practitioners, as well as training for all employees.

Dealing with bullying and harassment cases

As part of our efforts to create a harassment-free workplace environment, we are promoting a mental health plan and have established consultation desks in the management departments of each of our business locations, including our group companies, so that employees can seek advice if they have experienced or witnessed harassment.
When using our consultation service, we ensure that the confidentiality of those seeking advice is upheld, protecting their privacy and clearly stating that they will not be subjected to any disadvantage as a result of seeking advice. We have also prepared a system to appropriately address situations, such as taking measures to improve the situation and prevent recurrence.
In addition, to ensure that appropriate responses are made to consultations and reports regarding harassment, we regularly conduct training for general employees as well as managers and staff in charge of consultation services, striving to create an environment where employees can feel safe seeking advice. In fiscal year 2024, training was provided to 96 staff members in charge of harassment consultation services.

Children's rights

The Kamigumi Group recognizes that children are in a vulnerable position and require special consideration regarding their human rights. Therefore, in its "Kamigumi Group Human Rights Policy," the group endorses and respects the contents of ILO conventions and pledges not to tolerate forced labor or child labor. Furthermore, respecting the "Convention on the Rights of the Child," the Kamigumi Group strives to eliminate child labor in its business activities and supply chain, and promotes activities aimed at respecting children's human rights, avoiding violations of children's rights, and realizing a society where children's rights are respected.

Prevention of child labor and forced labor

Basic principles regarding child labor and forced labor

The Kamigumi Group complies with the laws and regulations of each country and region, and adheres to international labor standards and frameworks, and does not tolerate any unfair labor practices, including child labor and forced labor.

Main initiatives

The Kamigumi Group complies with the Labor Standards Act, which prohibits child labor and forced labor. Furthermore, in anticipation of any suspicion of child labor or forced labor, we have established an internal reporting hotline called the "Corporate Ethics Helpline" to prevent such occurrences.
